Company Electric

How long do I need to keep old bills from cable company, electric company, etc.?
I've kept bills that I've paid - electric, cable, water, etc. - for some time now. How long do I have to keep it? I know that some things I need to keep for tax purposes but what about these items? FYI - I do not have a home business. I have not used them as deductions on my taxes.

I am moving to a new state, and I need to find out the local information(phone, electric ect). HOW???
I am moving to Indiana from Tennessee, and I can't seem to find the local listings for telephone companies, electric companies, and all the other companies one needs to set up their new home. I am moving in 6 days, and I need help QUICKLY!! Thanks to anyone with answers.

Shouldn't we pressure our U.S. representatives & the president to release the Strategic Oil Reserves?
My understanding is that this will drive away the "speculators" and that the speculators are responsible for small increases in cost per barrel. Also why not hold up the cash subsidies to the oil industry, until they agree to increase production? They've all refused to build any new refineries here in the USA. Also we should threaten to cut off all forms of aid to all OPEC nations. Shouldn't the people put some REAL pressure on all the elected officials to accomplish all the above. AND PLEASE, no b$ about alternative energy that will take a decade or more to have any real impact. We need IMMEDIATE action. Alternative energy is a totally different subject. Use of electric cars is interesting, but the electricity needed to charge those cars will just mean more $$ paid to the electric utility company. Electric companies will be needing MORE coal and MORE oil to keep up, and each of our utility bills will increase. Please stick to the question of the Strategic Oil Reserve. Att: justagra, At a congressional committe recently shown on CSPAN, It was sugested that we "borrow" the SOR to throw a suprise to speculators who are driving price per barrel higher and higher. Then replenish it later. Just talking about the SOR has put lite fear into speculators, and over this weekend in my area, the price at the pump same the same for 3 days. att rayged, Enviromental groups aside, ... were you aware that all of the companies were approached to build an additional refinery in the USA and THEY ALL REFUSED TO? They are trying to put the squeeze on USA citizens. Att jeeper p, "We don't have a shortage of gasoline, thats not why the price is high." Technically we do, refusal to step up barrel quantity is creating a high demand situation. "We do not give foreign aid to any Opec nations." That's not what I heard. we also send 20 million or something in subsities to the oil industry, Didn't know that, did you? Releasing SOR will also throw off the market speculators and that will drive prices lower. btw if we aren't getting much oil from opec nations, why did USA go to them and request that they increase production, to which they said no,.. and in fact actually cut back on production? Sorry, Oil Industry Subsities actually are above 35 BILLION dollars at this time. We could cut that way back plus stop selling various military items to OPEC nations. We've got to try something or the price increases will not stop.

This is no different than what is written in Atlas Shrugged or 1984. They will sacrifice man for their blatantly wrong-minded ideas. Entities that produce are being torn down by those that do not. We need oil companies, electric companies, supermarkets and medicine companies. We do not need the government. They produce nothing and take all they want. Maxine Waters actually said she could see socialism taking over the oil companies. May she and all like her be damned and they will. Will you give up that which you have earned honestly to those who produce nothing?

Do you think the power companies {Electric} is ripping us off?
It seems like no matter how hard I try to cut back on electricity usage it doesn't seem to affect my bill. One day they say the rates are going up and the next day they're going down. It's so confusing. If anything they are the ones that need to cut down on unnecessary usage. Like riding around all day in air conditioned trucks cutting off electricity at the homes of the poor and elderly who live on a fixed income.
